Transfer News: Aston Villa in Talks with Borussia Dortmund for Donyell Malen

Aston Villa have reportedly opened negotiations with Borussia Dortmund over the potential signing of Dutch striker Donyell Malen. According to Sky Germany, Dortmund have set a €20 million price tag for the 25-year-old, having previously rejected Villa’s initial bid of €16 million. However, the Bundesliga side has now indicated they are willing to sell.

Villa, currently pushing for a top-four Premier League finish, are eager to strengthen their squad in both attack and defense. The Athletic reports that the Midlands club has made a second bid of £15 million, plus performance-related bonuses, in an attempt to reach a compromise with Dortmund.

Malen, who has scored three goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances this season, has struggled to secure a regular starting spot, often being utilized as a substitute. With limited playtime under manager Edin Terzić, the Dutch international may view a move to the Premier League as an opportunity to rejuvenate his career and gain more consistent minutes on the pitch.

As negotiations continue, Aston Villa remain hopeful of adding Malen’s versatility and goal-scoring potential to their attacking options.
